All the reasons why I'm always begging you to consider going straight to four-year college/university from high school...

Hi CHAMPS Family,

If you know anything about me at all, you know that I am continually trying to persuade every single one of my students to plan on going to a four-year college or university straight from high school...that is, if it's even remotely possible.  I do realize the fact that some kids can't do it for a number of reasons, and in some cases, community colleges offer specific career training (for example, firefighting) that is nearly impossible to find elsewhere.

Parents, unfortunately, the current state of affairs that now exists within our community colleges means that they don't generally offer the same educational experience you may have enjoyed some 10 - 25 years ago.  For the last couple of years, I've been looking for a definitive piece of writing via my own internet searches that succinctly describes the current state of things within community colleges...and I've finally found it.  Accordingly, here's a link to a very recent New York Times article that I strongly urge you to read:

Best,
